Decorating Our New House

Here is our tree. The cats love to play under it, so the tree skirt is always a mess.
Here you can see some of Kurt's eagle collection.
This is tree number two of three. We used to put a tree outside on our porch when we lived in North Carolina, but the winds are so extreme here that it would not last long if we put it outside.

I have not had a place to display my Christmas village in several years, so I made sure that I reserved a space for it this year. I put this one up. . .
 Katie put this one up.
I love my "Merry Christmas" board that my Aunt made me. It is reversible so I can leave it up all year.
I really like snowmen. I have collected many of them over the years.

Update and Hopes for the New Year

Cinnamon wanted to be my present.

The girls Christmas morning, waiting to open gifts.

Well, we are still in NC. We have not sold our house, we have not moved to South Dakota, Kurt is still staying with extended family while working his new job. There are many blessings to be thankful for in this situation. However, being separated from your spouse for an extended period of time and feeling like your life has been put on hold is very difficult. It seems like I say "when we get moved" more and more.

Kurt did make it home for Christmas. I am so thankful for the time we were able to spend together.

And on December 26th---We got snow!!! We actually got a lot of snow for this area, about 7 inches. The children had fun going out and playing in it. Kurt was teased about bringing the snow with him from South Dakota.

I am praying that our home here will sell quickly and we are able to get moved. I am ready to start the next chapter of our lives. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!!!

Snowmen, Snowmen Everywhere!

As you can see by this small sample of our Christmas decorations. . .I like Snowmen!! We decided long ago that Santa Clause was not going to be the main focus of Christmas in our home. That does not mean you won't find a few Santa decorations (some of my most treasured ornaments are little Santa decorations given to me by a dear friend early in my marriage) or even a picture of the children with Santa their first Christmas. But because of this decision I began to focus on snowman decorations. I have collected quite a few over the years. I try to collect a few new ones each year.
