What we have been up to lately.

Okay all, it has been so long since I have posted anything so I thought that I better let you all know that I am alive and well. I will kind of hit the highlights for the last couple of months.
Me: I am an aunt again. My little sister had her baby yesterday. She named her Sophia Anne. She is spending some quality time with her grandpa in the picture below.

I have been helping to coach my son's basketball team. What a joy it is to be involved in his life in this way. I get to see him step up and be a leader for his team. I have also been having quite a difficult time health wise. I seem to be getting sick every few days with different things. Not very fun. In addition to getting sick I have also been having quite a bit of trouble with my knees again. I have to see the doctor on the 12th of February to see what they will do. I have never really had trouble with my right knee, but favoring it for the past few years while I had trouble with the left one has apparently aggravated it. Luckily I don't need my knees to crochet, lol, which is also taking up a lot of my time. I enjoy crocheting in the evenings when the house is quiet. I even sold a few items in my Etsy store!! Okay well I think that about covers my life the last few weeks now on to someone else.
Kurt: my wonderful husband. He is busy, busy, busy. He is still working (we are so very thankful that he has a job) while taking several classes online toward his degree. He seems to have just as much school work as the children some days. He is still searching for a job in South Dakota. His family is there and after visiting in August we decided if he could get a job there we would move. I must say that I am thankful to have one more winter in North Carolina. He has decided not to play baseball this year. He loves it but it is demanding on his time.
C: He is currently playing basketball and preparing for the start of baseball season. He has always had a great love for sports and seems to do well. He was voted as one of the captains by his teammates.

J: He is my assistant in the house. He stays home and takes charge of the house while basketball consumes my time. He is a very responsible young man. He also enjoys his video games.
K: Big news for K is that she is getting baptized tomorrow!! I am so excited for her that she has made this decision. She is growing up so fast. She is still enjoying public school and making new friends.
A: She is really enjoying Kindergarten, although there are some days lately when she asks if she can stay home and home school so she does not have to get up so early. She still loves going to gymnastics once a week. Oh, I almost forgot. She has lost her first two teeth. The two on the bottom. They were ready to come out since the grown up teeth were already half way in behind them.
Well I think that about covers everything that has been happening lately.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

I am 37 today!!!

This is what my husband put on his Facebook status today. Today I get to celebrate a blessing. This is the 18th year I have been with my lovely wife on her birthday. God lead me to her and when I saw her I knew she was the one. It was truly love at first sight. He brought her into this world to give her to me 19 years later. She is my gift. A gift I get to celebrate everyday. Happy Birthday Regina . I love you with all my heart and soul.

How lucky am I to have this man who loves me so much. I love you, Kurt!!
I woke up early this morning and went out to some craft fair's. Then at lunch my wonderful husband surprised me with a cake and I got a Starbuck's gift card and this really cool cup.

I think we are planning to go out to dinner tonight too. I am so blessed to be celebrating my birthday with my family.

A Day for Lasts

Since Kurt is officially retiring from the military the end of November this is the last time I will see him wear BDU's. It has been a while since I have seen him wear them so it was quite strange to see him in them today.
Today was also the last time (while in the military anyway) that Kurt will have to jump out of an airplane. We all went along to see him. It was neat for us to be able see him do this, but I am secretly glad he will not have to do it anymore.

Kurt's Retirement Ceremony

Today Kurt had his retirement ceremony. He officially retires the end of November. It was a really nice ceremony with a picnic lunch afterward. We will soon be starting a new chapter in our lives with many changes. I pray that things go smoothly with all the transitions that we face. One change that we can avoid is moving. Thankfully Kurt was able to find a job that will keep us here. More to come on that in the future!!

I thought that it would be fun to post a picture from our wedding. It is always fun to see what we used to look like. When we were young and I was thin. . . okay maybe it is not as much fun as I thought. LOL

Special Night

OH, what a great night!! Our local Christian radio station had a "Great Date Contest". You had to submit what you thought a great date would be or what a great date you had in the past. The winners would receive a pre-screening of the movie Fireproof (by the same people who made Facing the Giants and Flywheel). Kurt submitted one of the special days he planned for me several years ago for our anniversary and we won two tickets to the pre-screening.

What an AWESOME movie!!! I highly recommend this movie, especially if you are married or engaged to be married. Ladies--take your Kleenex, if you are emotional like me you will need them!

Now you may be asking, "I wonder what the Great Date was?" Well, I will tell you if you go see this movie.
Just kidding!!
Our great date. . . on a Friday morning the day started when my alarm went off and Kurt turned it off, kissed me, told me that he would get the kids up for school, to go back to sleep, I did not have to go to work that day (he had called ahead of time and requested the day off--total surprise to me!!) and when I woke up I would have further instructions.
When I woke up there was a rose on his pillow with a note explaining that I had a hair appointment that morning and I should report at a specified time. When I got to the salon there was another rose and a note. After getting my hair done (which Kurt already had paid for, even the tip) I read the next note which told me to go back home for more instructions. At home, another rose and a note saying to go to Victoria's Secret. When I got there, another rose and note were waiting. This note had a gift card in it and told me to enjoy my shopping then go to the jewelry store. There was a rose, note and gift box waiting for me at the jewelry store. Inside the gift box was a lovely anklet and the note told me more instructions were waiting at home.
Another rose and note, this note explained that I would be meeting my husband for dinner at a specific restaurant and what time to be there. I had the rest of the afternoon to do as I pleased. He picked the kids up from school and took them some place fun. In fact, I didn't see him or the kids all day.
At the restaurant he had some more roses for me. We enjoyed a wonderful evening out together without the children.
I will always remember the way he made feel that day!!

Happy Birthday to Kurt!!!

We had a busy day today. Kurt had to work (of course!!) so I took C to his All Star practice from 10:30 until 12:30. Then we went to the lake from about 1:00 to 3:00. After the lake we went to have our family pictures done for the year. What an experience. We had them done at the Walmart Portrait Studio. We have not had pictures done there in a long time, but never had a bad experience. We had a 4:15 appointment. Kurt took all the kids home and took C to ball practice again at 6:00 and came back to get me. After repeated problems with the computers we finally left the portrait studio at 7:00, went back over to the ball field to pick C up. Got home about 7:50, picked up the other children and went out to eat Chinese food in a terrible thunderstorm and flash flood and got home at 9:20 to our house alarm going off. What a day!!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!!
BTW. . . J wanted to have colored highlights put in his hair for an early birthday present. He chose blue. What do you think. Good choice?

Father's Day

We had a very special treat today for Father's Day. Dave and his daughter, Caitlin, sang to Steven Curtis Chapman's song Cinderella while other members of the church danced to the different verses. Kurt, K and A got the first verse. I was nearly in tears (I am sure I would have been full out sobbing if it wasn't that I was concentrating on videoing) as I watched and listened to this song knowing what the Chapman family has gone through these last weeks. Please continue to pray for their family. I pray that you all have a wonderful Father's Day. Cherish the time that you have together as a family and always remember to give thanks to our Heavenly Father for all our blessings.
